Lenzing has developed distinct TENCEL® branded lyocell fibers in carpet for floor coverings. These fibers have a coarser diameter and a larger cutting length than standard types. Coarse and long fibers, similar to wool, are generally more likely to be used in carpets. Until now cellulose fibers were only very rarely used since they are too fine and short. The customized TENCEL® fibers have opened up new possibilities for use in carpets for the very first time. The carpets have new features thanks to the characteristic properties of TENCEL® fibers.
Lenzing Modal® branded fibers in COLOR introduces new aspects to fashion in many applications like lingerie, loungewear, tops, denim, and socks. Thanks to spin dyeing, Lenzing Modal® fibers COLOR are the technical solution for lasting color fastness. A comparison of an original t-shirt with a shirt washed twenty times reveals almost no difference in color. Since the coloration takes place in the fiber production process, resources like water, energy, and chemicals, which are needed in conventional coloring processes, are saved.
The concept TENCEL® branded lyocell fibers in shoes was presented for the first time two years ago. Since then an increasing number of innovative shoe manufacturers have shown interest in this sustainable and eco-friendly material. For shoes, the moisture management function which TENCEL® fibers fulfils to perfection is a must. The fruit of co-operation with Italian specialist companies, LTA srl and Pointex® spa, featuring TENCEL® fibers was presented in various shoe components at LINEAPELLE, one of the most influential industry gatherings in Milan in February. This co-operation represents another important milestone in the success of the shoe concept with TENCEL® fibers.
Lenzing Viscose® branded fibers and Lenzing Modal® branded fibers, including all the sub-types, were awarded the Biobased Product Label of the US-American Agricultural Ministry (USDA). This acclaimed certification is further proof that all the standard fibers from the Lenzing groups are 100 percent of the natural and replenishable material: wood. TENCEL® fibers have boasted biobased certification since 2011. Lenzing™ FR branded fibers may now be described as 99 percent biobased. The remaining one percent can be explained by the material used to make the fiber fire-resistant.
