This weekend, Nashville made a name for itself as not just a music city, but a denim city. The first Nashville Denim Days, sponsored by TENCEL™ Fibers, took place Nov. 10th and 11th, and the two-day denim festival and shopping event proved a hit with denim lovers from all over. Held at the city’s Marathon Music Works, Nashville Denim Days featured interactive displays, indigo dyeing workshops, it showcased new denim designers alongside more established brands, and had denim mills along for the ride, too.
Next week, there’ll be much ado about denim in Nashville. And Mavi, leading denim creator and innovator, will be there at Nashville Denim Days Nov. 10-11th in the TENCEL™ Denim display, to showcase what it’s been working on. For Fall/Winter 2018, Mavi has brought back supermodel Romee Strijd as the face of its campaign. The season will be about the elements of truly refined jeans with an emphasis on the “SUPERMAVI” concept and a focus on its SuperSoft collection.
The idea of innovation can seem daunting. Even the word innovation is often overused and misused. Everyone wants that earth-shattering invention that totally changes the world in a blink of an eye. However disruptive innovation rarely emerges from an “aha!” moment. Instead, they usually arise from thinking differently than we normally think and from learning. Creating a “big new idea” for your business requires innovative thinking, and innovative thinking requires the right kind of organizational environment. That is why innovation is so hard.
If ever there was a scarf for a true blueblood to fawn over, it would be the indigo creations coming from Choochai. The Thailand-based mastermind has created crave-worthy indigo patterns, tapping into TENCEL™ Lyocell to give the scarves a hand feel that makes them perfect for wearing around the neck. To find out what has inspired his creations, Carved in Blue caught up with the man behind the brand, Choochai himself.
Since the launch of TENCEL™ Lyocell with REFIBRA™ technology in February 2017, brands have been keen to embrace the first man-made cellulosic fiber featuring recycled material on a commercial scale. It’s a fiber which embraces circularity, since the REFIBRA™ technology involves upcycling cotton scraps from the garment production process and wood pulp sourced from certified sustainable forestry.
