More sustainability in agriculture with Lenzing™ fibers

At Techtextil in Frankfurt, Lenzing presented the botanic solution of Lenzing™ fibers for agriculture for the very first time. With its innovations of TENCEL® branded lyocell fibers, Lenzing is offering a solution to reduce plastic use in agricultural applications. The TENCEL® fibers, which are manufactured from the raw material wood, are particularly well suited to agriculture due to their fiber profile. The high strength of TENCEL® fibers allows for a lower specific material use, particularly with strings.

The Lenzing group steps up its activities in Turkey

The Lenzing group set up its first independent sales and marketing office in Istanbul in April 2017. Greater proximity to customers and being present in one of the most important textile markets in the world played a key role in this decision. “Our goal is to be available for our customers both quickly and directly,” Thomas Obendrauf, CFO of Lenzing AG, explains. “In our new corporate strategy sCore TEN, proximity to our customers is one of the most important elements for sales and marketing. With this in mind, being directly available at the site is crucial,” Obendrauf continues. The eleven employees in the Lenzing group’s Turkish Team focus on sales, business development and technical customer service. A showroom featuring the different Lenzing™ fibers, the processed products and the final applications for both textiles and nonwoven products is open to all customers and business associates.

Expansion of capacity for special fiber TENCEL® in Heiligenkreuz

The Lenzing group is expanding production capacity for its special fiber, TENCEL®, at the site in Heiligenkreuz in Burgenland. Lenzing is responding to the strong demand worldwide for new types of TENCEL® premium fiber like the RefibraTM fiber, which combines cutting waste from the production of cotton clothing and wood as raw materials. The investment will generate additional capacity of around 25,000 tons of fiber per annum. Customers will have access to this additional capacity by the end of the first quarter 2018.
