IAN BERRY DOES SECRET GARDEN ALL IN DENIM

A secret garden is a treasure trove all on its own, but when it’s a secret garden made entirely of denim, bluebloods – and even those without an insatiable love for denim – go crazy. That’s what innovative artist Ian Berry is delivering to the public with his latest work in indigo. The U.K.-born creator, known for his denim “paintings” that boast a depth and craftsmanship not otherwise done with denim, has launched a Secret Garden installation at the Children’s Museum of the Arts in Manhattan.

ALL IN THE FAMILY WITH M.I.H. JEANS

Once denim gets in your blood, it’s hard not to pass it to the next generation. That’s what happened with Jessica Lawrence, director of brand and design for M.i.h Jeans, the self-titled, “London girls’ denim brand.” For Lawrence, it was the blending of business and creativity that sparked a greater interest in joining the industry her mother, Jill, had already been a part of.

A look back in time with some of the designers who first recognized the fashion potential of a fiber ahead of its time – and who early on embraced one of its key qualities: sustainability. WHEN DENIM IS FLEXIBLE ENOUGH FOR A CONTORTIONIST

One young girl is getting bent out of shape over denim with TENCEL® branded lyocell fibers. In fact, as a contortionist, Liu Teng gets bent out of shape for a living – and she’s setting records doing it in denim made with TENCEL® fibers. Dubbed the most flexible woman in China, the 25-year-old just broke a Guinness World Record for fastest time to travel 20 meters in a contortion roll, clocking 15.54 seconds.
